Hawaiian Luau Party Essentials

Now that the hot summer weather has finally kicked in, it’s time for those fabulous summer parties.  If you are hosting a Hawaiian themed luau party, here are some delicious extras to add to your festivities.

Bahama Mama

(4 servings)

3 oz Light Rum

3 oz banana liqueur 

4 oz Malibu

12 oz pineapple juice

4 oz orange juice

4 dashes grenadine

Fill pitcher half way with ice.  Pour in ingredients.  Stir well and serve.

No Bake Pineapple – Banana Cake 

Crust:  1 stick melted butter or margarine

2 cups graham cracker crumbs

Mix together and press in bottom of 13 x 9

2 eggs

2 sticks butter or margarine

2 cups powdered sugar

Beat together on medium speed for 10 minutes.  Spread on crust.  Slice enough bananas (4 or 5), over the mixture to make a layer.

Spread number 2 can well-drained crushed pineapple over bananas.

Top with large Cool Whip.  Garnish with chopped nuts and maraschino cherries.  Refrigerate overnight or about 8 hours.

Rosemary & Garlic Grilled Shrimp

serves 4-5 – cook 25 minutes

1/4 cup olive oil

2 tbsp. fresh lemon juice

2 tbsp. minced fresh garlic

1 tbsp. chopped fresh rosemary

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

1 lb. of shrimp, thawed peeled and deveined

4-5 bamboo skewers, soaked in water 30 minutes

In a small bowl, combine oil, lemon juice, garlic, rosemary, salt and pepper.  Place shrimp in a 1-gallon recloseable food storage bag.  Pour Marinade over shrimp.  Seal bag; toss to coat.  Refrigerated, tossing occasionally, a minimum of 30 minutes.  Prepare grill to medium heat.  Place 4-5 shrimp on each skewer; place on grill; grill shrimp 6-8 minutes or until opaque and cooked through, turning occasionally.

Fruit Kabobs

This snack is easy and delicious!  Cut up your favorite fruits and put them on a fancy skewer.  Then enjoy!
