Why Does Red Symbolize Valentine’s Day?

Years ago, the color red meant blood.  As you know, the heart pumps blood through our bodies.  People once believed that love came from the heart, thus choosing the color red to symbolize the holiday.  Today, we connect our hearts to our feelings.  We still use the terms “broken-hearted,” “heart-warming,” or “heartless.”
