What was your life like before going on The Bachelorette?
Pretty plain. I was just your standard 9-5 worker in Boston. I had gone through some tough times since my brother passed in November. I had a lot on my mind. My mom and I were really close.
You told your story on TV. Was that hard to do? Have a lot of people reached out to you?
People contacted me on Facebook and thought I was really strong to say what I’ve said. I wasn’t even thinking about the cameras when I said it. If we were going to be in a relationship, Andi would obviously have to know about my past.
Why did you apply to go on the show?
I actually didn’t apply. My buddy applied for me. I got a random call and I answered it, and I really never heard of the show before. Once I got the call, I went into the interview process to see what would happen. After a year, they gave me the offer. I definitely thought about it, and my mom’s reaction was extremely excited and happy, so I did it!
What was your chemistry with Andi?
I think Andi and I were more friends. We were physically attracted to each other, but the romantic chemistry wasn’t there. I definitely held back a lot. I think if I opened up earlier, and showed her I was a more of a romantic guy, things would have gone smoother.
Why didn’t you open up?
I think you can definitely fall in love on the show, but I couldn’t see myself falling in love. I was just thinking that it probably wasn’t going to happen for me, so I should just enjoy the ride.
I think a lot of people wouldn’t be able to get engaged after that process. You’re honest!
I stayed out of the drama, I wasn’t this lovey dovey type to Andi. I just wasn’t the type of person it was going to work for.
Are you still friends with the guys? Any bromances?
Oh yeah. Myself, Marcus, Chris, and Brian are very close. Chris and Brian are my best friends, ever. They will be in my wedding, whenever that happens.
What was your relationship like with Eric Hill?
We were very close. I think everyone talked to him. Him and I had a lot of good conversations that they didn’t show on TV. He’s such a down to Earth, and has experienced more than most 30-year-olds I can imagine.
It was probably very hard for you when you heard he passed away.
It was extremely hard for all of us.
What do you hope happens at the Men Tell All?
I’d like to bring up the lie detector test! I have to stand my ground about what happened. They asked me if I washed my hands after I went to the bathroom. I do wash my hands but there are obviously times where I haven’t and didn’t want it to show up as a lie on the lie detector. Plus I use hand sanitizer a lot.
That’s embarrassing!
There was one question that asked if you’ve slept with 20 women. I heard it wrong, and I said yes. [Producers] could’ve made [the lie detector] way more fun instead of embarrassing people.
Out of Chris, Nick, and Josh, who do you think would work out best with Andi?
I have no idea. I probably have to say Chris, but he’s in Iowa. You can tell on TV that Andi was questioning if she wants to live in Iowa. I think Chris deserves it. He’s the best guy I’ve ever met in my life. But, I don’t think he will win because I think Andi will want to stay closer to Georgia. I think she’s closer to Josh.
Have you found love?
Still searching. But again, I’ll be on Bachelor in Paradise.
Will something happen on Bachelor in Paradise?
I hope so! I wouldn’t do it otherwise.
What’s next for you?
I don’t know. I’m single, and I still have a lot of things I have to get in line.
