There has been several rumors regarding St. Patrick’s heritage.  Although many automatically assume that St. Patrick was Irish, St. Patrick was actually Roman!  He was born in the Roman province of Britanniae, which today is modern day England.  Patrick’s parents, Calpurnius and Conchessa, were Roman immigrants to Britain.  Britain had been conquered by Rome in 43 AD.  Many English towns such as York, Lincoln, Leicester, and Exeter owe their beginnings to the Romans.
