You’ve had COVID-19– so when are you no longer contagious?

by Maryann Pisano on June 28, 2020

You caught the dreaded COVID-19. You lost your taste and smell, had a fever, and endured a horrible cough. After you’ve beaten the virus, when are you no longer contagious?

According to theconversation.com, “if someone has been symptom-free for 3 days and they developed their first symptoms more than 10 days prior, they are no longer considered to be infectious.”

However, no one is really sure whether those who have been sick are still infectious since the virus can still be detected in their bodies. A study from Hong Kong said that the virus could be detected in the body for 20 days or longer after first contracting symptoms.

Consult with your doctor about when they feel it is safe to see your loved ones or return to public places.
