“Bachelor in Paradise’s” Serena Pitt said Introducing her Fiancé Joe Amabile to Her Family was a “Little Bizarre”

Serena Pitt and Joe Amabile made an appearance on Kaitlyn Bristowe’s Oct. 14 podcast “Off the Vine” to gush about their engagement. However, Pitt did admit that introducing Amabile to her family was “a little bizarre.”

“We were basically back in quarantine,” Pitt explained to Bristowe, since their engagement had to be a secret while the show was airing. “I think it was good, because we got to do some sneaky visits.”

Pitt then went on to say that they mostly spent time at each other’s apartments or at their family’s houses since they couldn’t be spotted in public.

“Because we were engaged, it was important to meet each other’s families and close friends,” she went on. “They’re big parts of our lives. [I had to tell my family,] this is my stranger fiancé that you’ve never met before, which was a little bizarre.”

Pitt and Amabile got engaged on the “Bachelor in Paradise” finale which aired on Oct. 5. The other two couples that got engaged were Kenny Braasch and Mari Peppin as well as Riley Christian and Maurissa Gunn.

Amabile, a Chicago native, quickly became a fan favorite after being sent home night one on Becca Kufrin’s season of “The Bachelorette.” He then went on to “Bachelor in Paradise” and was a contestant on “Dancing with the Stars.”

Amabile is known for his relationship with fellow “Bachelor” contestant Kendall Long, whom he met on his last stint in “Paradise.” The couple broke up since they couldn’t come to an agreement on where to live—Chicago or Los Angeles.

The second time must’ve been the charm for Amabile, since he fell in love with Toronto native Pitt during his second season on “Bachelor in Paradise.” Pitt is most known for being a contestant on Matt James’ season of “The Bachelor,” and eliminated herself from the competition.

Both Pitt and Amabile told Bristowe that their friends and family had a similar reaction when telling loved ones that they were engaged.

“It’s a big decision to make in a short amount of time,” Pitt said. “But you don’t understand it unless you go through it.”

Amabile said both him and Pitt didn’t think they would leave Paradise in a relationship, let alone an engagement.

When asked about their future from Bristowe, the couple said they will have a long-distance relationship, and then will eventually move in together in the spring of 2022. They said they may possibly move to New York, since it would be a “happy medium.”
